My personal teaching philosophy. My Journey of Teaching Hebrew Language

As a teacher, I have been privileged to witness countless journeys in my students' lives, and let me tell you, they are nothing short of inspiring.

I do not believe in advertising a teaching for a particular language.

People do not learn languages by picking the one with the best advertising.

I believe, people only learn languages they need.

At the heart of my journey of becoming a teacher, is my desire to make a difference in the lives of my students. I hope I was able to inspire a love of learning in a struggling student, helping a student overcome a challenging obstacle, or simply being a positive influence in my student's life. I hope as well, I was able to make a profound impact and provide the support and guidance my students need to achieve their full potential.

We all have goals that we want to achieve, and sometimes, the journey towards those goals can be challenging. It's easy to get discouraged when things don't go as planned or when obstacles get in our way. But I want to remind you that it's the journey that makes the destination worth reaching.

The journey of becoming a teacher is a rewarding but challenging one that requires dedication, passion, and commitment. It begins with a desire to educate and inspire others and a willingness to put in the hard work required to achieve that goal. As a young child, the idea of being a teacher was always at the back of my mind. I enjoyed helping others and found myself frequently explaining concepts to my classmates. As I grew older, my interest in teaching only intensified, and I started to realize that it was the profession I wanted to pursue.

During high school, I took every opportunity to get involved with teaching. I tutored younger students in various subjects, and I volunteered as a teaching assistant for an after-school program. These experiences gave me a taste of what it was like to work with students and reinforced my desire to become a teacher.

In college, I majored in psychology, taking courses on child development, classroom management, and teaching methods. I was required to do several practicum placements in local schools, where I observed experienced teachers and got hands-on experience in the classroom.

I started teaching Hebrew twenty years ago. Still at the university and as a student of psychology, I had enough students to pay some of my bills. In a short time, I had my first students, who started to read, write and speak Hebrew. I was happy about their progress. Very soon, my motivation changed. I began to interact with more students, and I saw the progress they are making each day. The excitement of making the change, to transform students from not knowing anything to start speaking, writing and reading Hebrew, was extremely rewarding for me. This started to be my motivation, to be part of something that starts small and grows big;

This was my real reward, my external financial motivation was replaced by internal overwhelming motivation. After graduation, I got my daily job, but I could not get out of my head the excitement of teaching. I decided to continue to teach Hebrew. I joined, thirteen years ago, the State Language School and since then, and each year, I have 4 classes, divided into four learning levels, from beginner’s level to a conversation class. The number of students who preferred to have individual learning with me increased each year.

I learned to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all my students, and I developed relationships with them that helped me to better understand their individual strengths and weaknesses. The journey was long, but I reached the point of knowing what works best for each student. I have built my own method of teaching that makes my students read, write and speak Hebrew in a very short time. 

As the years went by, I continued to hone my skills as a teacher. I attended professional development workshops and conferences, and stayed up-to-date with the latest research in education. I also pursued additional certifications and degrees. Looking back on my journey, I can see how each step along the way prepared me for the next. Becoming a teacher was not an easy path, but it was a rewarding one. I feel fortunate to have found a profession that allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of my students every day.

The Hebrew alphabet is only a small hurdle. The grammar is systematic, and is built around three-letter roots, and it is not complicated.

If you want to travel, interact with Israelis, knowing Hebrew will make that easy.

Israel is a high-tech hub with a thriving economy, and knowing Hebrew can be an asset in many fields, including technology, business, and academia. Learning Hebrew can open up new career opportunities and help you build connections with people from Israel and the wider Jewish community.
Learning a new language can be a challenging and rewarding experience that can help you develop new cognitive skills, such as improved memory, creativity, and problem-solving. It can also broaden your worldview and expose you to new ways of thinking and communicating.
Hebrew is an ancient language with a rich cultural heritage. It has been spoken for over thousand of years and has played a significant role in the development of Western civilization, particularly in literature, philosophy, and religion. By learning Hebrew, you can gain a deeper appreciation for Jewish culture and history, as well as the broader Middle Eastern region. Hebrew is also an important language for the study of the Bible and other religious texts. By learning Hebrew, you can read these texts in their original language, which can deepen your understanding and appreciation of their meaning.

Israel is a popular destination for tourists, and knowing Hebrew can make your travels more rewarding and enjoyable. Being able to communicate with locals and read signs and menus in Hebrew can help you navigate the country and immerse yourself in the local culture.
Learning a new language is always a valuable experience, and Hebrew is no exception. Hebrew has a unique structure and grammar, and learning it can improve your overall linguistic abilities and make it easier for you to learn other languages in the future.

Na našich hodinách bola príjemná atmosféra, priateľské vzťahy a veľa milých prekvapení. Boli aj náročné chvíle, na ktoré si však spomínam s úsmevom. Je veľkým šťastím nájsť učiteľa ako je Sami. Hebrejčinu som sa s ním začala učiť pred troma rokmi a dnes mu, napriek ročnej pauze, môžem v tomto krásnom jazyku napísať :

 Ing. Vlastimil Jurkuliak, Bratislava : Sami je skvelý učiteľ. Je proaktívny, vždy pripravený na hodinu, záleží mu na pokroku každého jedného študenta a má ku každému individuálny prístup aj v skupine.

Bol som prekvapený, ako už od prvej minúty prvej hodiny išiel bez zbytočných rečí do všetkého naplno a divil som sa, koľko vecí sa dá naučiť počas jednej hodiny. Napriek tomu sa nikdy s učením zbytočne neponáhľa a vždy zdôrazňuje kvalitu pred kvantitou.

Má všetko, čo študent potrebuje - víziu, systém, vie pozitívne motivovať, povzbudiť a oceniť, vkladá čas i úsilie navyše, všetko ostatné záleží len od vás ako od študenta... 

Sami je učiteľ, s akým sa často nestretnete, je šťastie mať takého učiteľa.

 

Monika Fandliová, Bratislava : Sami ma zaujal hneď na prvej hodine. Ako učiteľ, aj ako človek. Do jazykovej školy som prišla s očakávaním, že prvé týždne sa budem učiť len abecedu, avšak na moje prekvapenie, abecedu som vedela už po prvom stretnutí a po niekoľkých týždňoch som písala a čítala prvé vety. Bolo to nad všetky moje predstavy. Sami učí s nadšením, z celého srdca a veľmi rád. Neustále obdivujem ako nám dokáže v slovenčine, ktorá nie je pre neho domáci jazyk, vysvetľovať hebrejčinu. Nie je to ľahké a Sami to zvláda výborne. Jeho túžbu naučiť nás cítim pri každom stretnutí.

Tiež veľmi oceňujem Samiho prístup k nám študentom. Nerobí medzi nami rozdiely, nikoho neuprednostňuje ani nezanedbáva, vytvára každému rovnaký priestor a venuje sa nám s rovnakým nasadením. Jeho postoj je neustále motivačný, pochvaly a povzbudenia sú príjemnou podporou. Vážim si Samiho trpezlivosť, ktorá vie povzbudiť a dodať odvahu, keď sa nám práve nedarí, ako aj ochotu kedykoľvek nám pomôcť a odovzdať čo najviac.

Sami je skvelý človek, ktorý túži vidieť náš posun vpred a k svojej práci pristupuje poctivo a zodpovedne. Veľmi mi vyhovuje Samiho spôsob učenia a hodiny hebrejčiny sa pre mňa stali cennou súčasťou môjho života. Vrelo odporúčam hebrejčinu so Samim.

 

 Jozef Hyrja, Bratislava : Som rád, že som sa po mnohých rokoch vďaka Samimu znova vrátil k hebrejčine. Tento pokus bol aj vďaka nemu úspešný. Na Samim vidíte, že učenie miluje, že mu na žiakoch a ich napredovaní záleží a čo ma stále znova milo prekvapovalo bola jeho nekončiaca trpezlivosť. Mirka Jakubčikova, Bratislava : Hebrejský jazyk je výnimočnosť a jedinečnosť, ktoru nemá každý a všade. Preto aj Sami to posúva ako výnimočnosť a jedinečnosť, ktorú preukazuje tym, ze dokáže najst spôsob, ktorý kazdemu umožní najst cestu ako to zvladnut.  Mgr. Andrea Ratkošová, Bratislava : Už od svojho detstva som sa intenzívne venovala výuke cudzích jazykov. Rozhodujúcim faktorom, či som sa do jazyka ponorila bol prístup mojich vyučujúcich. Sami je najlepší učiteľ hebrejčiny, akého si človek môže priať. V prvom rade vo Vás vzbudí obrovský záujem o tento jazyk. Následne vás každá hodina s ním utvrdí v tom, že ste si vybrali toho najlepšieho experta. Sami je na hodiny vždy kvalitne pripravený, dokáže odpovedať na akúkoľvek otázku ohľadom jazyka a reálií, vzbudzuje v študentovi zvedavosť a túžbu učiť sa z hodiny na hodinu.  Tanya Mattova, Bratislava : Mala som veľké šťastie, keď som prišla pred pár rokmi v septembri do školy a spoznala som môjho učiteľa Hebrejčiny Samiho. Páčilo sa mi, že to je “native speaker”, priamo z Izraela, ale jeho prístup  a spôsob akým učí ma doslova  fascinoval.  Jeho hodiny sú veľmi pestré, ale zároveň systematické a  čas strávený na jeho hodinách je pre mňa doslova zážitkom, častokrát výzvou, ale i duševným relaxom. Jeho odhodlanosť nás naučiť a odovzdať maximum je obrovská.

Sami je nie len úžasný a láskavý učiteľ, ale aj skvelý človek, s obrovskou dávkou energie,  ktorý sa dokáže vcítiť a je kedykoľvek ochotný pomôcť. Vidiet, že svoju prácu robí s radosťou,  s nadšením a láskou a odovzdáva nám maximum z toho,  čo sám za roky načerpal a sa naučil. Iba vďaka jeho neúnavnej trpezlivosti sa stále učím Hebrejsky a napredujem. Som mu  vďačná a ďakujem, že mám možnost byť jednou z jeho študentov. Toda raba, Sami.

 

 Michal Lieskovec, Bratislava : O ivrit sa zaujimam z nabozenskych dovodov. So Samim som sa zoznamil pred vyse rokom v Statnej jazykovej skole, dodnes si spominam na nasu prvu hodinu. Ihned som ocenil, ze Sami je z Izraela a nasa skusenost s modernou hebrejcinou je tym padom priama a autenticka. Samiho pristup je aj v ramci triedy individualny, vdaka jeho skusenostiam vie vybadat, ako ucit ziaka aj vo vacsej skupine. Ake naroky na neho klast, ako podporit jeho motivaciu, ako vyuzit a usmernit jeho alebo jej potencial. Jemu typicky zapal a svedomistost su nakazlive. Vie strhnut aj inak vahaveho a pasivneho posluchaca, akym zvacsa byvam. Cudzia mu je stagnacia a pomaly posun vpred. Pre vytazenost som medzi rocnikmi zo studia upustil, no nedavno sme so Samim opat nadviazali kontakt. Pocas individualnych hodin je jeho pristup este viac sity na moju mieru, okrem gramatickej casti sa podrobne pozerame na knihu Bereishis, kde mam moznost spoznat lashon kodesh a ku ktorej dostavam aj hlbsi vyklad. Be’ezrat Hashem, toto je len zaciatok nasho spolocneho ucenia. Todah Rabbah, Sami!

 

 Mgr. Jana Brnova, Bratislava : Hebrejčina so Samim ma naozaj baví. Sami vedie hodinu systematicky a kreatívne a  takým spôsobom,  že pracujeme so záujmom a  po celý čas hodiny, či som práve vyvolaná, alebo nie. Vie materiály použiť  nielen podľa zadania, ale kreatívne a inšpiratívne a vie z nich vyťažiť maximum pre nás. Páči sa mi, že chce, aby sme skutočne porozumeli konkrétnej gramatike, textu, či významu, ktorý práve preberáme  a  neváha vrátiť  sa s nami aj ku  základom, aby nám prepojil nové učivo so starým a uviedol nás do širších súvislostí až kým si nie je istý, že sme tomu porozumeli. Vie nás povzbudiť a tiež vydolovať náš potenciál a to robia dobrí učitelia. :)
Pripravuje nám materiály gramatiky aj mimo učebnice, ktoré nám pomáhajú oveľa viac jazyk  trénovať a používať.
Sami má hebrejské korene, a to prináša ešte ďalšiu  dimenziu hodiny. Sami niekedy viac, niekedy len okrajovo otvorí témy z hebrejskej kultúry, ktoré ponúkajú hlbšiu rovinu jazyka, a tak dáva možnosť "nazrieť za oponu" tohto bohatého jazyka a kultúry, čo mne dáva ešte väčšiu chuť a motiváciu učiť sa jazyk.
Oceňujem tiež, že ako cudzinec žijúci  v našej krajine sa naučil  náš jazyk a stále sa v ňom zdokonaľuje. Týmto príkladom tiež motivuje viac sa "popasovať" s hebrejčinou aj nám.

 Lubica Tomaštíková, Bratislava : Na hodiny ivritu so Samim som sa vždy tešila, atmosféra bola príjemná a veselá, program vždy pestrý a zaujímavý... myslím, že nikto nezaspával od nudy:). Každý sa mohol spýtať na čokoľvek a Sami bol zakaždým ochotný trpezlivo vysvetliť nejasnosti aj pomôcť s akýmkoľvek problémom. Všetci sme oceňovali tiež jeho znalosť češtiny aj slovenčiny, čo značne uľahčovalo priebeh výučby. Sami je veľmi priateľský a srdečný človek. Učenie sa ivritu s ním nie je len „suchopárna drina“, ale do veľkej miery aj zábava... jednoducho: zmysluplne prežitý čas, a ako výsledok tiež radosť z pokroku v hebrejčine.

 

 Maria Marhefkova, Červený Kláštor, Pieniny : Hebrejčinu som sa začala učiť kvôli práci v turizme. Ak dennodenne počúvate cudzí jazyk tiež nim chcete hovoriť. Zvyknem sa rozprávať s rodenými hovoriacimi, preto keď som sa dozvedela, že v Bratislave vyučuje native speaker neváhala som sa prihlásiť. Na hodiny som sa stále tešila. Nešlo iba o jazyk, ale aj o spôsob Samiho výučby. Sami vo mne od začiatku vzbudzoval rešpekt k učeniu, a tak som sa stále pocitvo pripravovala na hodiny. Zo začiatku bol pre mňa písomný prejav ťažký ale keďže ma hodiny ohromne bavili, nemienila som sa vzdať. Už po roku učenia, som si sama vytvorila a napísala webstránku v hebrejčine. Efektivita jeho hodín je teda preukázateľná. Každý štvrtok som rada trávila pár hodín so Samim a so spolužiakmi. Vyučovanie mi dalo veľmi veľa lásku k hebrejčine a Izraelu, zábavu aj kamarátstva i chuť v učení pokračovať až kým zo mňa bude fluent speaker. Napokon, keď mi moji izraelskí turisti chvália hebrejčinu, stále im poviem, že mám toho najlepšieho učiteľa. :) באהבה

 

 Julia Belinska, MD, Bratislava : Sami je urcite  jeden z najlepsich tutorov, co stretnete na svojej ceste vyucby ivritu.
Vystavi pred vami svet prehliadnej a jasnej struktury jazyku.  
Sustava jeho lekcii je prisna a logicka, pochopitelna pre kazdeho zaciatocnika. I zaroven, nesmierne bohata pre pokrocilych studentov.
On da vam odpoved na vsetky vase otazky «preco? - למה?», na ktore ste predtym dostavali odpoved len «lebo – ככה».

 

 Miro Paluch, Bratislava : Výuku hebrjeskeho jayzka som absoloval pred 10 rokmi v ulpane priamo v Izraeli.
Úžasná skúsenosť. Keďžej e to už veľa rokov dozadu, tak som veľmi uvÍtal možnosť osobne sa stretnúť s učiteľom hebrejčiny a oživiť si tento krásny jazyk. Nie je nič lepšie, ako možnosť  si zopakovať a overiť nejasnosti z gramatiky s človekom, ktorý je priamo z Izraele a pritom rozpráva po slovensky.
Výborná kombinácia. Velký predpoklad, že vám, učiteľ rozumie a pomôže zorientovať sa v jazýku, ktorý vôbec ne je ľahký. Osobne si najviac vážim, že môžem kdykoľvek zavolať, napísať a požiadat o radu.

 Dr. Monika Zachar, Wien : Študovať, rozumieť, chápať, čítať, vedieť rozprávať a vnímať hebrejčinu ako jazyk a písmo, ktorým sú napísané  Božie slová od Stvorenia sveta bola mňa obrovská výzva a nepredstaviteľná vec. So Samim sa to podarilo. 
Je výborné a neoceniteľné, ak Vás cudzí jazyk učí niekto, pre koho je to jazyk materinský. Sami je ako učiteľ veľmi veľmi trpezlivý, s individuálnym prístupom ku každému študentovi, bez rozdielu na vek. Prežíval s nami každé malé pokroky a motivoval nás počas každej hodiny, ktoré boli veľmi aktívne,  rôznorodé a využité do poslednej minúty. Pre Samiho učenie hebrejčiny nie je prácou, ale záľubou a to je pre jeho študentov obrovská devíza.

 Alexandra Petrášová, Bratislava : Učila som sa už viacero jazykov a musím povedať, že Sami je jeden z najlepších učiteľov, akých som stretla. Zdá sa, že jeho trpezlivosť je nekonečná a aj jeho systém, ako žiaci napredujú a získavajú obrovské množstvo slovnej zásoby je jedinečný. Sami vie byť prísny aj motivujúci a to je pre učiteľa jazykov ideálna kombinácia. Online hodiny s tak veľkou skupinou a ešte k tomu začiatočníkmi som si naozaj nevedela predstaviť, ale Sami ich zvládol na jednotku s hviezdičkou.

 

 Milan Čaputa, Modra : S hodinami hebrejčiny som veľmi spokojný. Sami je skutočne rodený lektor má obrovskú trpezlivosť a je profesionálny.

Ako native speaker s výbornou znalosťou slovenčiny dokáže s jazykom pracovať tak, že to pochopí naozaj každý.Jeho priateľský a pozitívny prístup ma dokázal motivovať natoľko, že som v štúdiu pokračoval.

Je vidieť, že ho práca baví. Teraz už dokážem porozumieť textu a dohovoriť sa jednoduchými vetami.

Samiho môžem len odporučiť. Som rád, že som stretol takého učitela.

 

 Judita Juhásová, Bratislava : Hebrejský jazyk som začala študovať pred rokom u Samiho. Vďaka energie, ktorú Sami dáva do výučby zvládam jednoduchú konverzáciu nielen ústne, ale aj písomne. Keďže ide o náročný jazyk, Sami je trpezlivý a dáva mi dostatočný priestor na rozmýšľanie. Svoje nároky prispôsobuje úrovni jednotlivých študentov, čo oceňujem. Každému, kto má chuť a dostatočný priestor na štúdium hebrejčiny, odporúčam, aby vyskúšal kurzy hebrejčiny so Samim.

Iveta Zsigová, Bratislava : Čaute súčasní i budúci študenti jazykovej školy a zvlášť študenti exotických jazykov, akým hebrejčina určite je. V živote som sa seriózne neučila cudzí jazyk, ak teda nerátam ruštinu na základke, latinčinu na strednej a nemčinu na výške. Nevedela som čo od toho očakávať no napokon môžem po roku konštatovať, že získané vedomosti a spôsob výučby prekonali moje očakávania. Začali sme klasicky v septembri, no po pár stretnutiach zasiahol lockdown, ktorý má z hľadiska výučby svoje výhody i nevýhody. Náš učiteľ Sami nás postupne trpezlivo písmenko za písmenkom zasväcoval do zvláštností tohto jazyka a po čase sme dokázali čítať hebrejský text. So slovnou zásobou a gramatikou to bolo (aspoň u mňa v mojom veku) trochu horšie, ale aj tak sme celkovo urobili úžasný pokrok. Okrem nášho úsilia by sme to ale určite nedali bez Samiho a jeho prístupu k nám. Úspešne zvládnuté testy po prvom ročníku hovoria za všetko. Už sa tešíme opäť na september!

 

 PaedDr. Monika Lašová, PhD. Bratislava : Hodiny hebrejčiny som mala veľmi rada. 
Boli sme veselá a kreatívna trieda plná smiechu.
Naučili sme sa veľa nového a náš učiteľ Sami rád rozprával aj o motivácii, knihách, kabale či židovských sviatkoch a kultúre. Na hodinách Sami bol trpezlivý a všetko písal na tabuľu, čo sme veľmi ocenili, keďže ivrit nepoužíva samohlásky. 
Hodiny so Samim odporúčám všetkým nadšencom ivritu. 

 

 Dr. Dasha Sarah Witzan, PhD., Bratislava : Študujem hebrejčinu 3 roky. Navštevovala som rôzne školy, kotré ponúkajú vzdelávanie hebrejského jazyka. Je dôležitý hlavne prístup lektora, ktorý poskytuje výuku. Bola som veľmi spokojná s výukou hebrejčiny, ktorú som absolovala so Samim. Je veľmi priateľský a chápavý lektor. Dokáže pomôcť, povzbudiť a podať veľmi veľa relevantných poznatkov z hebrejského jaýzka nad rámec obsahu vzdelávania.
Sami mi pomohl pochopiť hebrejský jazyk a naučil ma sa v ňom  "pohybovať".

Eva Gernátová, Bratislava (EN): "I consider Sami as one of my best teachers,with whom I had the opportunity to meet. I have precious memories of his Hebrew lessons and an infinite gratitude to him for helping me to learn Hebrew. He is an excellent and exceptional teacher who can motivate his students to get the best results The lessons with him are intense, colorful and above expectations. His lessons are definitely not a waste of time. Each lesson with him moves the student who wants to work on himself a significant step forward. His passion and approach to students are exceptional, that can make even miracles. One of my biggest surprises was how quickly he taught us to read and write. I expected it would take us months, but he did it the first hour. There was a pleasant atmosphere, friendly relations and many nice surprises in our lessons. There were also difficult moments, which I remember with a smile.

It is a great fortune to find a teacher like Sami. I started learning Hebrew with Sami three years ago and today, despite a one-year break, I can write to him in this beautiful language:

If you listen to a foreign language on a daily basis, then you would want to speak it as well. I get used to talking to native speakers, so when I knew that in Bratislava there is a native speaker who teaches Hebrew, I didn't hesitate to register to his courses. I was always looking forward to the Hebrew lessons. It was not only about language, but also about the way Sami is teaching. From the very beginning, he aroused in me a respect for learning, so I was still feeling ready for his class. At very first, writing was difficult for me but since I enjoyed the Hebrew lessons immensely, I did not intend to give up. After a year of learning Hebrew, I was able to build alone a website in Hebrew. The effectiveness of Sami’s lessons is therefore demonstrable. Every Thursday, I liked to spend a few hours with Sam and my classmates. Learning Hebrew language gave me a lot of love for Hebrew and Israelis; it gave me fun and friendship, and a desire to continue learning until I reach fluent speaker level.

He leads the lesson systematically and creatively and in such a way that we work the whole time of the lesson with interest, whether I am just called out to answer or not. He can use the materials not only according to the assignment, but also creatively and inspiring, and he can get the most out of all this for us.

I like that he wants us to really understand the specific grammar, text or meaning we are just taking over, and he doesn't hesitate to go back to the basics with us, to connect the new subject with the old and introduce us to the wider context until he is sure we understood that. He can encourage us and also reach our potential, that’s what good teachers do. :)

He prepares grammar materials for us outside of textbooks, which help us train and use the language much more. As he has Hebrew roots, that brings another dimension to the class. Sometimes more, sometimes only marginally; we open topics from Hebrew culture that offer a deeper level of language, thus giving us the opportunity to "look behind the curtain" of this rich language and culture, which gives me even more desire and motivation to learn the language.

I also appreciate that, as a foreigner living in our country, Sami has learned our language and is still improving in it. This example also motivates us to "get along" more with Hebrew.

I came to the language school with the expectation that in the first weeks I would only learn the alphabet, but to my surprise,
I knew the alphabet after the first class and after a few weeks I wrote and read my first sentences in Hebrew.
This was beyond all my imagination.

Sami teaches with enthusiasm, wholeheartedly and he loves it.
I constantly admire how he can explain Hebrew to us in Slovak, which is not his native language. It's not easy and Sami handles it well.
I feel his desire to teach us at every class.

I also really appreciate Sami's approach to us as students.
He does not differentiate between us, does not prefer or neglect anyone,
He creates the same space for everyone and devotes himself to us with the same commitment.
His attitude is constantly motivating, praise and encouragement are a pleasant support.

He himself is a great person who desires to see our progress forward and he approaches his work honestly and responsibly.

Iveta Zsigová, Bratislava (EN): Hi all current and future students of the State Language School, and especially the students of the exotic languages, as Hebrew certainly is. I have not seriously learned a foreign language in my life, unless I count Russian in primary school, Latin in secondary school and German in high school. I didn't know what to expect from learning Hebrew, but after a year I can say that the acquired knowledge and the way of teaching exceeded my expectations. We started regularly in September, but after a few lessons, the lockdown hit us all, a thing which had its advantages and disadvantages in terms of learning Online.
Our teacher Sami gradually and patiently taught us the Hebrew letters, letter by letter, to the and initially explained to us the peculiarities of this language.
Over time we were able to read the Hebrew text.
For me, it was a little worse with vocabulary and grammar (at my age), but we still made an amazing progress overall.
Apart from our efforts, we certainly wouldn't have done it without Sami and his approach towards us. We successfully passed tests after the first year, and is a fact that speaks of itself.
We are looking forward to September again!

An amazing experience. Since it has been many years ago, I very much appreciated the opportunity to meet a Hebrew teacher in person and revive this beautiful language. There is nothing better than the opportunity to repeat and verify ambiguities in grammar with a person who is directly from Israel and at the same time speaks Slovak. This is great combination and a great plus when your teacher understands and helps you to get acquainted in a language that is not easy at all.
